Debbie and Cleo Mainville of Sudbury have won the $388,490 HSN 50/50 Cash Lottery for the North jackpot for February.
“I was totally shocked to get the call, I thought it was a joke,” Debbie recalled in a release. “Then Cleo thought the same thing when I called him. I bought tickets twice this month but even so, you still never expect to win.”

The Mainvilles started purchasing tickets after their friends Larry and Jane Fisher won the first HSN Cash Lottery for the North jackpot back in June 2020.

A program offering free income tax preparation for low-income taxpayers is bringing back a hybrid model in Meriden and Wallingford, offering in-person document drop-off and online appointments.
The Human Resources Agency of New Britain plans to start scheduling appointments on Jan. 19 for the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program.

The Wallingford Public Library temporarily closed its building to visitors Monday, but plans to continue to provide borrowing services and virtual programs.
According to a statement on the libraryâs website, the main branch at 200 N. Main St. closed due to rising COVID-19 infection rates, the more contagious virus variant that has been found in New Haven County, and âserious concerns about compliance with the libraryâs mask policy.â
