In 1945 at Sunderland’s Pickersgill and Sons shipyard, TID 159 – one of 182 steam tugs built as part of the war effort – was launched too late. The vessel was sold in 1946 to the Port of London Authority, which named her ‘Brent’ and she was used to help maintain the River Thames as a navigable waterway.
