Man dies and two people left with serious injuries following crash near Dolgellau

The incident happened earlier today (Thursday, May 6). North Wales Police were called at 8.20am to a report of a two vehicle collision on the A494 between Rhydymain and Dolgellau involving a blue-coloured Skoda taxi and a white-coloured Peugeot van. The emergency services were called to the scene including the Air Ambulance. Sadly, the male driver of the taxi was pronounced dead at the scene. The female passenger from the taxi, and the male driver of the van have both been airlifted to hospital in Stoke. Both are said to have life threatening injuries. Sergeant Jason Diamond of the Roads Policing Unit is appealing for witnesses. He said: “Our thoughts are very much with the man’s family as they try to come to terms with what has happened, and it is very important that we establish what led to this tragic incident.
