Pair jailed over man's death in Dunfermline

Kingdom FM Two people have been jailed for killing a man at his Dunfermline home. Chris Cowie, 38, was found dead at his house on Golfdrum Street in October 2019. At the High Court in Edinburgh, Jason Mooney, 28, and Lynn Kelly, 35, were found guilty of culpable homicide. They have now been sentenced to 10 years and four-and-a-half years in prison respectively. The court heard how Mooney and Kelly failed to get medical help for Mr Cowie after attacking him. Detective Inspector Paul Dick, senior investigating officer from Dunfermline police station, said: My thoughts continue to be with Mr Cowie’s family and friends who have shown considerable strength over the past 19 months.

Jason Mooney, 28, and Lynn Kelly, 35, took Christopher Cowie s life after a confrontation at his house in Golfdrum Street, Dunfermline on 15 October 2019. Mooney and Kelly, from Dunfermline, were earlier both found guilty of culpable homicide. Kelly was jailed for four years and six months. Both accused had denied murdering Mr Cowie were found guilty of the lesser charge of culpable homicide at the High court in Edinburgh.

Jason Mooney, with Lynn Kelly, took 38-year-old Christopher Cowie’s life following a confrontation at his property in Golfdrum Street, Dunfermline, on October 15 2019. The High Court in Edinburgh heard how the 35-year-old mother of one smashed a mirror over Mr Cowie’s head. Mooney, 28, then grabbed a triangular piece of glass and then stabbed it into Mr Cowie’s knee, causing him to bleed to death.
