Foxwoods Resort Casino is continuing to roll back pandemic-related restrictions this month, as an increasing number of people receive COVID-19 vaccinations.
Guests may play all slot machines, and the casino will slowly lift capacity restrictions on table games, restaurants, theaters and retail shops, Foxwoods announced. The casino will still require mask-wearing throughout the property, and will continue advanced cleaning of high-touch areas.
“With the exception of face masks, all protocols will be lifted by or before May 19, aligning with Connecticut’s plans, Foxwoods President and CEO Jason Guyot said. We will closely monitor our approach but are ready to introduce a safe and more relaxed ‘next normal’ environment for our guests and team members ahead of summer.”
So far, about 30% of Florida's population is considered fully vaccinated. To reach herd immunity, that number needs to be around 70%. Central Florida’s vaccination sites are seeing fewer and fewer people visiting and it's starting to appear that everyone who wants the vaccine is able to get it. Fishing safety seminar
ROCKPORT The Maine Fishermen’s Forum is hosting a safety seminar on May 4. The seminar will be 90 minutes long and include several guest speakers.
“In the last fifteen months, Maine’s fishing community lost eight men to several fishing related tragedies. Commercial fishing is one of the most dangerous occupations in America,” the forum wrote on the event posting. “There are several simple precautions which dramatically improve your chances of surviving an accident at sea and coming home safely to your family.”
This roundtable discussion will be hosted by Maggie Raymond of Associated Fisheries of Maine and panelists include U.S. Coast Guard Commander Jason Boyer, Brian Smith, a commercial fishing vessel examiner and Mike Russo, a fishing accident survivor.
