North Forsyth house total loss after Sunday morning fire An unoccupied home in north Forsyth County was declared a total loss after a fire on Sunday morning.  Forsyth County Fire Department Division Chief Jason Shivers said firefighters responded to a call at 2560 Mountain Road at about 8:30 a.m. on Sunday, March 7 and were on the scene until about noon. Shivers said the home was a total loss but family members of the previous owner confirmed it was secured and “had not been lived in for some time.” He said there were no injuries reported in the fire and the single-story house was almost totally involved when firefighters arrived.

Man hospitalized, released after Tuesday fire at North

A Forsyth County man has been released from the hospital after a fire at his home late Tuesday night. Fire Division Chief Jason Shivers said the 78 year old man had some mobility issues and struggled to get out of the North Forsyth County home. It was a very small fire that occurred in his bedroom, confined to his bed and mattress, said Shivers. He of course dialed 911 and we were able to make a very quick response to his home and get him out. Shivers said when they arrived at the Browns Bridge Road home, near the Gainesville line, a sheriff s deputy was already on scene and trying to access the man, who was in his living room, but the smoke was too thick.

Firefighters, deputy rescue man after mattress fire in northeast Forsyth County Quick work by Forsyth County firefighters ended in the successful rescue of a resident from a Horseshoe Bend home in northeast Forsyth that was quickly filling with smoke from a mattress fire. Officials say they responded to a fire at around 11:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 2, and that crews were on the scene for about an hour and a half. According to Division Chief Jason Shivers, a 78-year-old man was home alone when the fire started. Shivers said smoke alarms in the home were not in working condition, but the man was awake and could smell the smoke before calling the fire department. Shivers said he was unable to leave the home without assistance.

17,000 chickens killed after fire in north Forsyth County Thousands of chickens were killed in a north Forsyth County chicken house fire Monday, Feb. 22. Forsyth County Fire Department Division Chief Jason Shivers said firefighters responded to the blaze at an active chicken house off Pea Ridge Road at about 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The chicken house, which had an estimated 17,000 birds in it at the time, was a total loss. Shivers said the farm has 12 chicken houses and the fire did not spread to any of the others. He said no workers were injured and the chicken house that burned was insured.
