Mosley s Long Journey Pays Off On Day 1

By B.A.S.S. Communications Staff A last-minute decision to run two hours to the Houston area rewarded Brock Mosley with a five-fish limit of 15-10, which led day 1 of the Bassmaster Elite Series event at the Sabine River in Texas.
Familiar with the potential of the tournaments western boundary, Mosley, who hails from Collinsville, Miss., ran the Intracoastal Waterway, crossed Galveston Bay and settled into a narrow waterway on Houstons east side. While he was pleased with his decision, he admitted he made the commitment shortly before takeoff.

Veteran Steve Kennedy s runner-up finish was his first Top-5 showing since his victory at Lake Dardanelle in 2017. A lackluster second day pretty much eliminated his chances of overtaking eventual wire-to-wire winner Jeff Gustafson.

Usually Jeff Gustafson makes the trip home to Kenora, Ont., from Bassmaster Elite Series events alone.
This time, though, he had company.
Strapped in the passenger s seat of Gustafson s truck for the 2,100-kilometre, 20-hour drive from Knoxville, Tenn., was a huge blue championship trophy. Gustafson claimed the hardware Sunday by winning his first Bassmaster tournament on the Tennessee River. It rode shotgun with me the whole way, Gustafson said. I probably looked over at it a couple of times an hour and it made me smile.
