The Providence Journal A Burrillville police officer has been charged with illegal possession of fireworks in the wake of a July 4 incident at Spring Lake, the department announced Friday. Lt. Jason Cahill has been on administrative duty since the incident, a statement from Police Chief Col. Steven Lynch said. Cahill pleaded nolo contendre on Friday to the charge of illegal fireworks possession. Cahill had also faced charges over the illegal use of fireworks, which were dropped. Both charges were brought by the state fire marshal s office. A spokesman for the Burrillville Police Department declined to share any details about the incident that led to the charges.
