The equipment bolsters the Government of Jamaica’s COVID-19 emergency response and directly aids activities that are vital for helping to stem the challenges.
The United States Government, on Tuesday, through the US Agency for International Development (USAID), delivered $13 million worth of critically needed hospital supplies as part of the third tranche of emergency equipment to the Ministry of Health and Wellness (MOHW), to support the Government of Jamaica’s (GOJ) response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The equipment is part of the USD $2 million in assistance USAID is providing to Jamaica to fight the COVID-19 pandemic.

Laying down an electic cable for Metro Line 1
All stations of Metro Line 1 are powered by two 110kV power stations of Binh Thai and Tan Cang, as well as 220kV electric lines connecting Thu Duc station to the Long Binh Depot in District 9. The work is set to be completed in the second quarter of this year if COVID-19 is brought under control.
Huynh Hong Thanh, deputy head of MAUR, said that the event marked the beginning of testing operations for the train and the equipment.
Jason Fraser, project manager of contractor Hitachi, said that other trains and equipment are being imported to Vietnam. Hitachi will also speed up the installation of electromechanical systems and equipment on the entire route, as well as energise the two main power transformer stations of Binh Thai and Tan Cang.
