SEATTLE (AP) Jake Fraley was showered on opening night three months ago when he walked with the bases loaded for the first of the Seattle Mariners’ extra-inning victories.
On the night the club dubbed “re-opening night,” Fraley was once again the recipient of a game-winning celebration after yet another extra-inning win for the surging Mariners.
Fraley’s single with one out in the 10th inning scored Jake Bauers with the winning run, and Seattle improved to 10-1 in extra innings this season with a 5-4 victory over the Texas Rangers on Friday.
Nearly 4 1/2 hours after the first pitch, Fraley chopped a grounder off Texas reliever Taylor Hearn (2-3) into right field and set off another wild celebration for the Mariners on the night T-Mobile Park was at full capacity for the first time since 2019.

Jake Fraley singled home the winning run in the 10th inning as the Mariners defeated Texas 5-4 Friday night, the Rangers 13th consecutive loss at Seattle.
Fraley and Luis Torrens hit solo homers for the Mariners, who won their third consecutive game and prevailed for the 13th time in the past 17.
Texas Joey Gallo went 0-for-3 with a walk and three strikeouts to snap his streak of five straight games with a home run.
Seattle s Jake Bauers started the bottom of the 10th as the runner at second base. Shed Long Jr. bunted him to third, and the Rangers decided to intentionally walk Torrens to bring up left-handed-hitting Fraley to face left-hander Taylor Hearn (2-3).

On the one day of the year the Blue Jays break out of their ornithologically-inspired garb and pay homage to the country they represent, they actually don’t have a great winning percentage (.356). That number got dinged a little more today as the Mariners trounced the Jays 7-2 in a much more decisive victory than last night’s extra-innings affair, giving the Mariners back-to-back series wins against two playoff-bound teams. This road trip was advertised as one that would show us what these Mariners are made of, and while the two series losses to Detroit still sting my memory, it’s hard not to feel enthused about the level of play the Mariners brought today.
