The British Government has already been warned the Brexit and the subsequent protocol agreed with the European Union on Northern Ireland could pose a serious threat to the Union.
Brigid Laffan, Director of the Robert Schuman Centre for Advanced Studies, warned Brexit may set a precedent for Irish nationalists to push for independence.
Prof Laffan said: I fully agree there won t be a border poll this year, next year, or in five years but there will be a border poll in the next ten years to 15 years.

Former Brexit Party MEP Jake Pugh has come up with the five tests for Brexiteers to analyse the 2,000 pages of the Brexit deal, which is expected to be announced tonight. He warned the treaty must pass the tests, or Boris Johnson “will be toast”.

Chief Brexit negotiator Lord Frost has reportedly said the UK would be willing to accept a cut of around 33 percent on EU fishing quota if the bloc backed down in other areas, sources close to the talks told Bloomberg. The offer is much more generous than the 60 percent cut Britain last week demanded the EU take to secure a trade deal.
