NEW YORK The arguably moot presidential primary that Andrew Yang sued New York state to conduct cost several million dollars to hold, but that wasn’t the only cost to taxpayers. After winning a court battle to hold the Democratic primary, Yang and his allies raked in $220,000 worth of legal fees at taxpayers’ expense, court records show. Now, that additional outlay, which has not been reported previously, has political observers on edge over Yang.

The group’s web site warns of a return to the “unseemly era of the 1970s and 1980s,” and emphasizes priorities such as bringing back tourism, a business friendly regulatory environment and “access to the best tools and training” for police. A spokesperson for the committee told THE CITY the recovery of New York from the pandemic is “number one campaign issue” for the upcoming municipal elections.

Mercury Mercury’s lobbying and public affairs firm, which is headed by Michael McKeon, boasts more than 30 media relations professionals in its New York office.
