DCDP - Another tasty summer of food trucks on the menu Crookston Times     Downtown Crookston Development Partnership food truck events are back and the calendar is filling up with a variety of tastes all summer.     Food trucks will be set up in the H&R Block/Opticare parking lot at Broadway and Second Street with varying hours continuing the focus on lunchtime for downtown employees. Last year s events brought in over 6,000 to downtown Crookston.     The DCDP hosted four dates already in April and May welcomes back some fan favorites. During Ox Cart Days in August, the group will be sponsoring food trucks and stands six days that week with everything from smoked meats to Thai food to cheese curds to mini donuts.

Trio of school projects green-lighted

Crookston Times     The Crookston School Board approved a trio of projects at last week’s meeting including removing a fuel tank at the old bus garage, seal-coating the parking lots at the high school and Highland Elementary, and making a repair to the high school roof.     Here are the ins and outs of each project:     • Superintendent Jeremy Olson informed the board that “there’s always a risk” when doing a project such as an underground fuel tank removal, but that the procedure would be good for the neighborhood to remove it rather than let it sit. If the company doing the removal finds contaminated soil there would be an additional cost, but if they don’t completely remove it there would be potential seepage liability down the road.

Crookston Firefighters Association throws Feiros a surprise party Crookston Times     The Crookston Firefighters Association recently held a surprise retirement party for longtime firefighter Tom Feiro and his family who will be moving out of state.     Feiro was a firefighter in Crookston for 36 years and had his “last hose roll” in June, the CFA announced in a Facebook post.     Tom’s wife, Kim, will also be retiring from her longtime daycare business out of their home when they make the move.     Tom, who received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Minnesota Crookston in Environmental and Natural Resource Management, also worked for UMN Crookston for 40 years and was involved in many campus and community projects before his retirement as the Environmental Health & Safety Lab Services Coordinator. He served as the coordinator for areas of fire and life safety, laboratory safety, indoor air quality, ergonomics, respiratory protection, asbestos and
