It’s always a bittersweet mix sadness in seeing them go, happiness for a well-deserved next step but we wish them all well in the next phase of their lives. Here, we honor some of the longest-serving and most recognizable professors who are moving on this year men and women whose faces will be missed, but whose impact will not be forgotten: Dr. James Curry was recently recognized by both the Texas House and Senate for his 47 years of service to Baylor, including 14 as chair of Baylor’s political science department. Man injured in vehicle vs lawn mower collision in Logan County

Hopkinsville, KY, USA / WHOP 1230 AM | News Radio Apr 30, 2021 4:16 PM An Olmstead man was flown to a Nashville hospital Friday morning after a vehicle collided with the lawn mower he was operating in Logan County. According to the Logan County Sheriff’s Department, the collision occurred in the 800 block of Lyne Johnson Road around 9 a.m. when 51-year old Christopher Hopper of Olmstead was mowing grass on a riding mower.  He reportedly entered the roadway and was struck by a pickup truck operated by 76-year old Jerry Johnson of Olmstead. Hopper was ejected from the mower upon impact, landing in a ditch off of the roadway.  He was flown to Skyline Medical Center in Nashville for treatment of injuries.

Vendors share excitement for return of Wisconsin State Fair

SHARE WEST ALLIS, Wis.   The Wisconsin State Fair is back, which means lots of delicious food will soon be filling the fair grounds. Things at the Wisconsin State Fair grounds are currently under construction, but come summer the grounds will be filled with people after the decision to move forward with the fair this year was made this week. When vendors first heard they news they were over the moon excited to be able to come back. Long time volunteer Jerry Johnson has been a part of the New Berlin Lions Club Corn stand at the State Fair for the past 25 years. He has his usual spot he goes to serve corn.

Sky Harbor cash seizure undercuts 2017 police reform North Carolina business owner Jerry Johnson needed a new semi-truck for his logistics company in summer 2020. So he scraped together his savings, borrowed money from family, and flew west from Charlotte to try to negotiate a cash deal at an auction house near Tolleson.  Unfortunately, the Phoenix Police Department and Maricopa County Attorney’s Office made other plans for the money. Acting on a tip from an informant, officers got ready to intercept the currency at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport.  Alexa Gervasi A detective started by obtaining Johnson’s itinerary and running a background check. Then he and two other plain-clothed officers took positions in the baggage claim area and waited. When Johnson arrived and picked up his suitcase, they surrounded him and demanded to know whether he was carrying a large amount of currency.

Wheat Field Days After a year of remote tours, Colorado Wheat Field Days are back in 2021 with live, in-person events. The 2021 Colorado Wheat Field Days will be held June 10-16 at eleven different variety trial sites throughout Eastern Colorado. Madison Andersen, Communications Coordinator at Colorado Wheat says it’s great to have wheat farmers back out in the 11 test locations throughout the state. Andersen: “ This year we are featuring Dr. Esten Mason who is CSU’s new Wheat Breeder. He just started in August so we’re happy to have him along on the tour. We also hear updates from Dr. Jerry Johnson and Sally Jones Diamond who work with the CSU Crop Testing Program. They’re an integral part of putting these Field Days on. We’ll hear an update from Laura Potorff who will be the new Director of Seed Programs at CSU. She will also give an update as well as Brad Erker and Tyler Benninghoven who are both as Colorado Wheat.
