Hong Kong Racing Tips: Old Lad Winston can get the Teetan show back on the road
Karis Teetan has a good book of rides at Happy Valley on Wednesday.
POPULAR light-weight jockey Karis Teetan has found it tough going in Hong Kong over the past couple of months.
The ‘Mauritian Magician’ may still be lying third in the jockeys’ championship, but he is under threat from the likes of Alexis Badel and top seven-pound claimer Jerry Chau, who have been riding winners for fun recently, plus top international pilot Christophe Soumillon – the go-to rider for trainers at present.
Teetan, who was regularly riding one or two winners per meeting up to December, now has a record of only half-a-dozen victories from his last 91 rides.

Returning to competition for the first time since early November, Christophe Soumillon wasted no time in authoring an ominous statement of intent as the Belgian ace successfully started a short-term riding stint in Hong Kong.
The 10-times French champion jockey posted a double, a feat matched by Joao Moreira and Jerry Chau, as Frankie Lor logged a treble to narrow Caspar Fownes’ lead in the trainers’ championship to 31-27.
Conceding he is pitted against two of the world’s top five jockeys – Joao Moreira and Zac Purton – Soumillon has no plans to rest on his laurels after resuming with a brace, outlining plans to ride at 120 pounds before his stint ends on 14 February, 2021.
