Derek Chauvin trial live: George Floyd death from low oxygen discussed

USA TODAY MINNEAPOLIS The chief medical examiner for Hennepin County who conducted the autopsy on George Floyd testified Friday in the murder trial of Derek Chauvin,  telling jurors that Floyd s breathing did not appear to be impaired by the placement of Chauvin s knee on Floyd s neck. Dr. Andrew Baker testified that Floyd s existing and underlying heart disease was a contributing cause of his death; it was evidenced by a heart that  weighed more than it should and coronary arteries that were significantly narrowed. The law enforcement subdual and neck compression is just more than Mr. Floyd could take by virtue of his heart conditions, Baker said. 

NHBPA, State Horsemen s Groups File Suit To Halt HISA - Horse Racing News

Sponsored by: The National Horsemen s Benevolent and Protective Association, together with state affiliates in Arizona, Arkansas, Indiana, Illinois, Louisiana, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Washington and West Virginia (Mountaineer) have filed a federal civil suit in an attempt to put the brakes on the Horseracing Integrity and Safety Act (HISA). The suit, filed in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas, names the Federal Trade Commission and several of its employees, as well as the people tasked with forming the Nominating Committee for the new federal authority. The suit seeks to have HISA and a number of its elements declared unconstitutional, to enjoin defendants from taking any action to implement HISA, as well as nominal damages of $1 and compensatory damages of any fees charged to horsemen by the new authority.

Alice Jeanne Osborne Black, who passed away Sunday, Jan. 24, 2021, was born to Imogen and Harry B. Osborne in Pine Bluff, AR. After a few days, she came to Humphrey, AR where she remained the rest of her life. She, Donna Wessels, Ann Epperson and Irene Ellerman grew up on the same street in Humphrey and became lifelong friends. Alice, Donna and Ann lived on the same street, until Alice’s death. Nancy Lockhart came to visit her grandparents in Humphrey during summers and became another lifelong friend.  Alice was a graduate of Humphrey High School. She also attended Stephens College, a private women’s college in Columbia, MO for a year. She made more lifelong friends during her time at Stephens.
