(Seguin) It’s been weeks since winter storms dropped snow and ice on Texas. The unusual winter weather crippled the state’s electric grid, shutdown water supplies in many areas, and it claimed the lives of 111 Texans. It’s something that’s still likely fresh on the minds of people in Texas, and it’s one of the reasons why there’s still talk about what happened and how we will be better prepared if something like this happens again.
The Guadalupe Valley Electric Cooperative, or GVEC, is the latest to try to help explain what happened during that mid-February event. GVEC General Manager Darren Schauer made a presentation about what he knows during Tuesday night’s meeting of the Seguin City Council. Schauer says no reasonable person would ever had expected a winter storm like this to hit Texas. He says there have been past cold snaps that lasted for a day or two, but these storms produced sub-freezi
