According to the Talmud, 10 measures of beauty descended on the world, nine were taken by Jerualem and one by the rest of the world.
By Stephen M. Flatow
I’ve read what the Talmud says: “Ten measures of beauty descended on the world, nine were taken by Yerushalayim [Jerusalem], one by the rest of the world” (Kiddushin 49:2).

I will say, however, that the trash from our building is picked up daily and the streets and sidewalks are cleaner than ever as they get a regular sweeping.

Jerusalem
(main image) is a city rich in tradition, faith, and history, but also in modern culture and heritage. It has so much to offer that you could spend years here and still not see everything. One of the most stunning cities on the planet, Jerusalem is also one of the most contested cities. Jerusalem’s historical significance is immense, and the city’s central position in the rituals of the three major monotheistic religions (Judaism, Christianity and Islam) has resulted in centuries of conflict, but, for the pilgrim, the city is surprisingly calm and conducive to prayer. For first-time visitors, the sheer number of religious attractions can be bewildering, but, fortunately, the majority of the significant sites and things to do are hidden among the narrow streets of the compact Old City area.
