‘Dr. Michael Conti Way’ would be a fitting tribute

This April 13 marks Dr. Conti’s 126th birthday. Sadly, Dr. Conti succumbed to a heart attack on October 1, 1973. It would be a fitting tribute to designate a portion of Fourth Street in honor of Dr. Michael Conti on his birthday.
Some 47 years ago, a group of concerned citizens within Jersey City commenced a petition drive to name P.S. Number 5 and a portion of Fourth Street in honor of Dr. Michael Conti. Subsequently, a delegation presented the petition with over 2,000 signatures to Councilman Peter Zampella and Council President Dominick Pugliese.

If all goes well, a new pump station, which will service both Metuchen and Edison, will be up and running in a year-and-a-half.
The Metuchen Borough Council moved to amend a bond ordinance for the construction of the new pump station at a meeting on March 8 to reflect an increase of the final design and engineering cost estimate of the whole project by $1.16 million. The total bond ordinance is now $5.26 million from $4.1 million, which was approved in February 2020.

Deveon Palms 19, and a 17-year-old male, both from Jersey City, were charged with theft of a motor vehicle and eluding, according to Police Det. Lt. Danilo Cabrera.
On Wednesday at approximately 8:19 p.m., a Grubhub delivery man reported his vehicle stolen.
The victim explained that he was picking up a delivery in the area of 1st and Washington Streets and left his vehicle running and unattended. Then when he returned, his vehicle was gone.
Police Officers Damien Bates, Tyrone Huggins and James Barbro responded to the victim and provided a description of the stolen vehicle. Moments later, Police Officer Francis McCourt located the vehicle traveling westbound in the area of Newark and Harrison Streets.
CRST increasing ay for expedited drivers

CCJ Top 250, No. 20) announced an increase in pay for company, team over-the-road drivers in its CRST Expedited Solutions division.
More than $1.2 million in bonuses were paid in the final quarter of 2020, and on Jan. 1, the expedited division received an increase in overall pay.
The change expands OTR team driving earning potential by 10 cents per mile, the company says, with top earnings at 68 cents per mile as a driver mentor. Additionally, CRST Expedited is also offering many teams the option to choose increased home time packages.
