The Hanna RCMP are looking to reduce drugs in Hanna, as well as property crime and traffic incidents Hanna Council learned at their April 13 meeting.
Sgt. Trent Sperlie presented to Council in the virtual meeting, noting overall crime is down in Hanna.

“The reality is our numbers are very, very low,” Sperlie said.
He said that charges under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act increased significantly, noting that with the low numbers to work with, even slight increases could look large.

Hanna Town council voted in favour of the Hanna Spray Park Committees landscaping request at their April 13 meeting.
CAO Kim Neill informed council that they were looking at Option A for the rubber surfacing to finish off the structure, which was put into place in the Fall of 2020. As of September 2020 PlayQuest Recreation had quoted them a price of $35,001 plus GST to install a pour in place rubber surface.

He noted that the Committee had originally been approved for a $100,000 contribution by Town council in 2017 for the project which was matched by the Special Areas and $200,000 was raised by the Spay Park Committee itself.

Fish and Wildlife officer Levi Neufeld came before council on Feb. 9 to discuss the possibility of reinstating fish into the CN Reservoir.
Neufeld said he had been approached by Sandra Beaudoin on behalf of the Roundhouse Historical Society in September to see if the perch and pike that were there historically could be brought back.
