Carlow man charged with having child pornography   Wednesday, March 10, 2021 The man appeared at Carlow courthouse on Wednesday A CARLOW man appeared before Judge Geraldine Carthy in relation to child pornography charges last Wednesday. The man aged in his 30s is charged with having child pornography in his possession. He is also charged in relation to the distribution of child pornography at his home address in February 2019. Garda Marie Hynes of Carlow Garda Station gave evidence of arrest, charge and caution of the defendant. He made no reply after being cautioned. The DPP directed that the matter be dealt with summarily in the district court on the basis of a guilty plea being entered.

Sergeant Morgan O’Connor said that on March 9, 2019, Ms O’Mahoney pulled in to the Applegreen filling station in Paulstown, put €30.06 in fuel into her car and drove off without paying. On the same day she took a carton of milk from a shop and left without paying. The defendant had 47 previous convictions, the court heard.

On April 29, 2020, a garda speed check on the M9 detected a car travelling at 190kph. The driver was Thomas Kerrigan, Mullaghcash Hill, Twomilehouse, Newbridge. Solicitor Chris Hogan said his client was traveling to visit his elderly aunt who was exhibiting Covid symptoms, and he had a respiratory machine in the car for her. Mr Kerrigan is a self-employed carpenter living in a remote area. He helps to look after his elderly parents. His licence is important to him, Mr Hogan said.
