Loehr was initially scheduled to be sentenced in January 2021 but the matter was adjourned to February due to COVID-19 and similar charges against Loehr in Ontario. Loehr was arrested in Ottawa on Feb. 17, 2020, and brought back to Saskatchewan to face numerous charges stemming from incidents that occurred in the 1990s when he was a band and music teacher in Wynyard and Foam Lake schools. During a July 2020 trial, five former students testified against Loehr. They ranged in age from 12 to 14 at the time of the incidents. Loehr left Saskatchewan in 1996 and taught in Ottawa schools. In 2019 Ottawa Police charged him with sexual assault and sexual interference against 11 students. Loehr taught music in middle school and privately in his home.
On the Saskatchewan charges, Loehr was arrested at his residence in Ottawa on Feb. 17, 2020, and brought back to Saskatchewan. Loehr was found guilty in Wynyard Provincial Court on Nov. 13, 2020, on three charges of sexual assault and one count of sexual interference. The incidents occurred in the 90s when he was a band and music teacher in Wynyard and Foam Lake schools while he worked in the Shamrock School Division. Five former students testified against Loehr during his July 2020 trial. They ranged in age from 12 to 14 at the time of the incidents. Wynyard RCMP had launched the historic sexual assault investigation against Loehr in February 2019 after a woman reported an assault that occurred in the 90s. Five other women later came forward to police.
