Washington [US], January 26 (ANI): John Boyega and Robert De Niro, cast in the Star Wars franchise, have also been roped in to star in Netflix s car race prodigy drama The Formula .
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Gerard McMurray (Burning Sands) will direct the movie about a Formula One race car prodigy who becomes a getaway driver to save his family.
The project will be written, directed and produced by McMurray through his production banner Buppie Productions; Jane Rosenthal, De Niro and Berry Welsh will also share producer credits.

Hollywood legend Robert De Niro and Stars Wars John Boyega are coming together for the upcoming Netflix thriller, The Formula.
Gerard McMurray, the man who helmed titles like Burning Sands and The First Purge, is set to produce, write and direct the movie, which is said to be based on an original idea. However, parallels are already being drawn between the Robert De Niro-starrer and director Nicolas Winding Refn s acclaimed 2011 feature, Drive.

John Boyega and Robert De Niro have signed up to star in a new thriller for Netflix.
The Star Wars actor will play a Formula One racing prodigy in the project, titled The Formula, with filmmaker Gerard McMurray at the helm, according to Deadline.
The First Purge director will also write the film, based on an original idea, with De Niro serving as producer, alongside Jane Rosenthal and Berry Welsh.
The Formula will reportedly tell the story of a racing prodigy who becomes involved with the Mafia and is forced into being a getaway driver to support - and save - his family.
