A man was arrested after an attack against an Asian woman outside a New York City restaurant on Memorial Day.
Alexander Wright, 48, was charged with assault, assault as a hate crime and criminal possession of a controlled substance after the unprovoked attack was caught on camera, according to the New York City Police Department.
The suspect approached a 55-year-old woman and punched her in the face, causing her to fall to the ground, according to video shared on Twitter by Assemblywoman Yuh-Line Niou, whose district includes Chinatown. The woman was taken to a hospital in stable condition, police said.
