NORWOOD â The Seaway Career & Technical Education Center in Norwood has chosen Corey Dow as the Potsdam Rotary Club Student of the Month for May 2021. He is a student in the HVAC/R Program. He is from the Massena Central School District and is the son of Corey Dow Sr.
Heating, ventilation, air-conditioning and refrigeration is a two-year program designed to prepare students for employment in this field. Topics include basic electrical theory, wiring, troubleshooting skills, use of an electrical meter along with common electrical and mechanical hand tools, fundamental principles of refrigeration, combustion and trade safety. Throughout the program, there is also the opportunity to earn Federal Environmental Protection Agency Section 608 of the Clean Air Act Certification needed to handle refrigerants.

DURHAM, N.H. (AP) Kalil Thomas nailed a high-arching corner 3 with 19 seconds left to close the door on New Hampshire 72-64 and send UMass Lowell onto the America East Conference semifinals for the first time in program history on Sunday.
Obadiah Noel scored 28 points, Connor Withers added 11 points with seven rebounds for UMass Lowell (10-11). Salif Boudie added three blocks.
The River Hawks will face No. 1-seeded UMBC on Saturday.
Nick Guadarrama had 16 points for the Wildcats (10-9). Nick Johnson added 14 points and seven rebounds. Jayden Martinez had 14 points and eight rebounds.

LOWELL, Mass. (AP) - Blondeau Tchoukuiegno scored 19 points, making three 3-pointers, as New Hampshire edged past UMass Lowell 69-67 on Saturday to close the regular season. Jayden Martinez threw down a dunk with 20 seconds left to beat the River Hawks’ full-court press and Nick Johnson made a free throw at the five second mark as New Hampshire held on. UMass Lowell cut a seven-point Wildcats lead to 68-67 on a Kalil Thomas 3-pointer with five seconds to go.
The Wildcats locked up the third seed in the America East Conference and will host a playoff pod with the No. 6 and No. 7 seeds next weekend.
