The owner of a doggie daycare and grooming business in St. Boniface is praising the actions of a passerby after a woman with a semi-automatic rifle walked into the vestibule of their Marion Street location on Saturday.
Luckily, the incident ended peacefully.

“He approached (her) and didn’t hesitate to do that and stepped in,” said Katie Heinrichs, owner of The Dog Loft on Marion Street. “The police have said he played a huge factor in defusing the situation.

A 32-year-old man has been charged with manslaughter after police were called to the 500 block of Elgin Avenue on Friday evening for a report of an injured male who had been found in a residential building.
When they arrived, officers located the male, who was now unresponsive, and began to perform emergency first aid. He was taken to hospital in critical condition but later died from his injuries. A male suspect was taken into custody at the scene.
