When the $3.6 billion NTR Metals money laundering case was filed in Miami federal court in 2017, I was struck not only by the dollar signs but also the vast gold-smuggling operation behind it. Then, upon further reporting, I learned that South American drug traffickers dominated the illegal gold trade in the Amazon region. Once I established that foundation, I knew this was not your garden-variety money laundering story.

According to a new poll, Florida voters overwhelmingly support the new Gaming Compact between the state and Seminole Tribe of Florida.
Gov.
Ron DeSantis and Seminole Tribe of Florida Chairman
Marcellus Osceola Jr. recently signed the new Gaming Compact, which would give the Tribe exclusive control of sports betting in Florida and allow pari-mutuels to offer sports betting under the tribeâs supervision.
In exchange, the state would receive a minimum of $2.5 billion in revenue in the first five years of the 30-year deal, with yearly amounts adjusted afterward.

Federal court here we come The post-session lawsuit count keeps on rising.
Cap imposed Late Friday afternoon, Gov. Ron DeSantis signed a bill into law that places a $3,000 limit on contributions to political committees that push citizen initiatives. It wasn’t a surprise since DeSantis signaled a week ago that he would approve the measure boosted by the Florida Chamber of Commerce even though a string of court decisions has found campaign donations are protected under the First Amendment.
