Alaska Journal | U K explorer makes billion-barrel find along Dalton Hwy

Tue, 05/25/2021 - 11:33am A drill rig is seen working at the Alkaid-1 well being developed by London-based Pantheon in 2020. Further exploration at the Dalton Highway-adjacent prospect this winter revealed a massive find the company estimates at more than one billion barrels of recoverable oil. (Image/Courtesy/Pantheon Resources) The leaders of a small British explorer insist they have struck an oil accumulation measured in the billions of barrels that is also conveniently located alongside the Dalton Highway. Pantheon Resources intersected two reservoirs near the bottom of its Talitha-A exploration well that, combined, likely hold roughly 1.4 billion barrels of recoverable light oil and more than 12 billion barrels of oil in place, according to Technical Director Bob Rosenthal.
