New Orleans The offshore oil industry boat that overturned in a deadly Gulf of Mexico disaster last week was ordered to sea in dangerous conditions by an energy company that put “money over safety,” a pair of $25 million lawsuits assert.
The lawsuits were filed in Texas state court in Houston by a lawyer for Hannah Daspit and Krista Vercher, both of Louisiana. Daspit s husband, Dylan Daspit, and Vercher s fiance, Jay Guevara, were among the 19 people working on the boat when it overturned in stormy weather April 13. Six people were rescued, and six bodies had been recovered and identified as of Friday afternoon. Dylan Daspit and Guevara were among seven missing and presumed dead.

The search continues for seven still missing from the Seacor Power disaster.
Family and friends of Jay Guevara continue to hold out hope.
Jay Guevara s childhood friend is devastated his friend is still missing. He remains hopeful that Guevara will return home. He s just polite, respectful, kind, generous, loving. He s just a great person all around. That s why I can t believe this has happened to him,â said Guevara s best friend, John Garcia.
John Garcia grew up with Guevara in their hometown of Gonzales, Texas. Since Guevaraâs disappearance, Garcia can t imagine his friend not coming home.
Non-profit created to support Acadiana families affected by Seacor Power disaster

Friends and neighbors of the Acadiana men affected by the recent Seacor Power disaster have created a non-profit organization to support the impacted families.
Funding raised by Lift Acadiana will go directly to the families of the five men from the Acadiana area that were on the lift boat when it capsized on April 13.
One of the founding members of Lift Acadiana, Brook Kyzar Fremin, said she was inspired to create the non-profit by those asking how they could do their part.
