Several SW Washington cities ban fireworks through Fourth of July amid wildfire concerns OregonLive.com 8 hrs ago Jayati Ramakrishnan, oregonlive.com
Three cities in Washington and one in Oregon have banned fireworks through the Fourth of July, citing high wildfire risks leading up to the holiday weekend.
The cities of Bend, Camas, Washougal and Battle Ground all said Monday that they would prohibit residents from setting off fireworks. Camas and Washougal said they will still allow the sales of fireworks to continue.
Meanwhile, Portland city officials said that they would weigh whether to impose additional firework restrictions, but had made no decision to do so as of Monday afternoon. But officials said strict enforcement, even of existing bans, is unlikely given the strain on 911 responders.
