The latest COVID-19 report from the Washington State Department of Health (DOH) is showing a surge in new cases, which experts link to the widespread delta variant.
The state s latest sequencing data showed that delta variant cases constituted 58% of the sequenced specimens collected between June 20-July 3, according to DOH.
By mid-June, statewide COVID-19 cases had started to flatten but since the first week of July, cases have increased. As of July 8, hospital admission rates have also risen, according to the report.
Since July 4, approximate hospital admission rates among unvaccinated people between the ages of 45-64 were 20 times higher than among the vaccinated individuals in the same age group. Washington health officials estimate that statewide population immunity was at 51.9% on July 8.

MADISON, Wis. (AP) Wisconsin Gov. Tony Evers and the state’s top health leaders on Thursday urged anyone age 12 or older who will be attending school in the fall to get vaccinated as soon as possible for COVID-19, as cases surge in the state due to the more contagious delta variant.
The call comes amid a growing concern in Wisconsin and nationally about growing numbers of COVID-19 cases. In Wisconsin, the seven-day average of new confirmed cases was 242 as of Thursday, which was three times as high as two-and-a-half weeks ago. There have been 7,393 deaths from the disease in Wisconsin since the start of the pandemic, with an average of one per day over the past week.

Keeping an adequately trained workforce in your community must be a nightmare. I think that may be one of the toughest parts of running a city and why mayors age at roughly 7 times the speed at which regular humans do. It s like dog years, but with premium parking at city hall.
My point is - keeping quality businesses filled with a qualified and skilled workforce is key to keeping those businesses in your town. If attracting the kind of businesses you want to your town is checkers, keeping freshly educated and trained professionals from leaving your town and tanking that crucial business is 3d chess played in a hungry lions den wearing a sirloin necklace. Personally, I think whoever does that for a living might just have the most stressful job ever.
