Staff Writer Special to the Journal/CCSO Drug agents and firefighters tend to a meth lab at a Salem home. SALEM Columbiana County Drug Task Force agents dismantled a meth lab on Newgarden Avenue Friday after executing another search warrant in Salem in 24-plus hours. Just like the raid the day before on Jennings Avenue, a resident ended up in jail and items seized included a loaded pistol, cash, methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. The difference this time, though, was the presence of a dangerous home-cooked meth lab, with six empty Coleman fuel containers and 15 one-pot meth cooks, with many of the cook pots old and dry.

Feb 27, 2021 LISBON A March 8 preliminary hearing was set in county Municipal Court for Ryan W. Virden, 32, Jennings Avenue, Salem, charged with having weapons while under disability, a third-degree felony, for allegedly having a nine-millimeter semi-automatic pistol in his bedrooms when the county drug task force searched his home Thursday. Virden reportedly has multiple felony convictions including ones involving drugs and weapons. Chad M. Collins, 35, last known address McCracken Road, Salem, signed a waiver of extradition so he can be returned to Hampton Township, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania where he is facing a warrant for a charge of harassment and terroristic threats. He was reportedly found at an address on Salem Parkway, Salem, on Wednesday.
