Whittlesey volunteers donates to care homes in lockdown

Published: 12:11 PM February 26, 2021    Jenny Palmer (far right) sourced and donated a range of items to four care homes in Whittlesey in a bid to keep them occupied during lockdown. - Credit: Helping Whittlesey A volunteer has helped paint smiles on faces at a group of care homes in a bid to keep them occupied during lockdown.  Jenny Palmer, part of the Helping Whittlesey group, used donations given to the group during the pandemic to buy a range of items for the town’s Keneydon House, The Elms, Aliwal Manor and Cedar Court care homes.  “Jenny was very keen as she was heavily involved with the poppy display and keen to do something else. I said to her ‘why don’t you manage this project?’” Deborah Slator, founder of Helping Whittlesey, said.

Man charged in Athens shooting indicted

By Rich Flowers rflowers@athensreview Jan 29, 2021 Jan 29, 2021 A man arrested for firing gunshots at two people outside an Athens apartment was among the first slate of indictments of 2021, under new Henderson County District Attorney Jenny Palmer. Lamontee Daquon Rodriguez, 26, of Athens was indicted for two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. The charge is a second degree felony. According to Interim Chief of Police Rodney Williams, on Nov. 17, officers responded to gunshots fired in the 700 block of Jonathan Street. Officers spoke to witnesses who said a man walked into the property and fired approximately six rounds at two individuals in the parking lot. The bullets struck the two vehicles and penetrated the windows of two different apartments. No one was injured.
