August Bioservices, a Nashville, Tenn.-based contract development and manufacturing organization (CDMO) providing drug discovery, development, and pharmaceutical manufacturing services, closed a $23.6m Series A extension.
The round was led by Polaris Partners, who joined existing investor Oak HC/FT. As part of the financing, Brian Chee, Managing Partner of Polaris Partners, joined the August Bioservices’ board as a Director. Darren Carroll of Polaris Partners joined the board as an observer.
The company intends to use the funds to expand its manufacturing capacity and capabilities to advance the technology platforms needed to support production of sterile injectable medications.

This September, New York City’s public school students will no longer sit in front of a computer screen for class. Parents won’t have to juggle working from home and helping their children through technical difficulties. Teachers won’t have to remind students to mute themselves on Zoom.
Schools will fully reopen this fall, and remote learning will be eliminated, Mayor Bill de Blasio announced yesterday. The complete return to in-person classes is a major indicator of the city’s economic recovery.

Loyola vs. Hofstra
Loyola (11-2) punched its ticket to the NCAAs by winning its fifth Patriot League championship in seven years last weekend. The Greyhounds have won at least one NCAA Tournament game in seven of its eight appearances under head coach Jen Adams and last made the quarterfinals in 2015. Hofstra (6-6), which earned an at-large bid, is making its first appearance in the tournament since 2007.
Livy Rosenzweig paces the Greyhounds in goals (32), assists (42), points (74) and draws (73). Jillian Wilson (23 G, 16 A, 61 DC, 17 CT) also knows how to stuff a stat sheet. Loyola ranks fourth nationally in scoring defense (7.69) and is anchored by goalie Kaitlyn Larsson (7.84 GAA, .519 save percentage). Larsson’s GAA is fourth in Div. I.
