Whey Better Cookie Co. opens new shop in Brighton
Brighton couple Greg and Keri Hayes said their confections business boomed after several television appearances.
Orders for peanut butter cups, cookies and other items poured in following a spot on ABC s The View, which aired in September, and appearances on the Home Shopping Network and HSN.com.
They founded Whey Better Protein Bakery a few years ago and recently changed it name to Whey Better Cookie Co.
While they were thrilled to be slammed with orders as a result of the TV shows, online deliveries and orders from stores, they felt they were missing out on something the in-person customer experience.

CORRECTION: The Delaware County District Library is not accepting vaccination registrations. An earlier version of this story indicated otherwise.
Before the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic, the Delaware Public Health District was busy conducting inspections, issuing birth and death certificates and providing immunizations and other services.
It also was refining plans to respond to any eventual pandemic, health commissioner Shelia Hiddleson said.
For the past year, those plans have been put into action, including contingencies for mass vaccinations, Hiddleson said.
As of April 28, she said, the health district had administered 23,959 vaccinations.
Also as of April 28, the Ohio Department of Health s COVID-19 vaccination dashboard reported 81,110 Delaware County residents – 31.78% of the population – had completed vaccinations against the virus.

A popular Genoa Township eatery is closed for the next several days following a fire Monday morning.
The Brighton Area Fire Authority was called out to the Culvers Restaurant at Grand River and Latson Road at about 7:30am on the report of a structure fire.
Brighton Fire Chief Mike OâBrian says that a fire apparently started overnight in the mulch outside the structure and then spread up the wall into the attic space inside the restaurant. They found smoke throughout the building upon arrival and used about 500 gallons of water to put out the flames.

Nearly two years after a Genoa Township infant was found dead in his home, authorities have filed murder charges against his father.
25-year-old Joshua Alan Woy was charged last week with an open count of murder and a count of first-degree child abuse in the June 2019 death of two-month-old Kane Woy. Woy was found unresponsive after police were called to a Genoa Township residence. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to Michigan State Police, an autopsy determined the child had suffered a skull fracture, multiple brain hemorrhages, optic nerve damage, and a fractured right arm. The cause of death was listed as homicide by blunt force trauma. An additional autopsy was conducted by the University of Michigan Child Protection Team with testimony indicating the child also had other injuries that indicated ongoing physical abuse.
