Teens charged with Cell Science Center break-in | News, Sports, Jobs

Alton Jones Cell Science Center and vandalizing the place in November. The only one of them named by New York State Police was Remi P. Borden, a 19-year-old from Lake Placid. The other three are 18 years old. New York State Police Troop B Public Information Officer Jennifer Fleishman told the News on Friday, Jan. 22 that State Police initially responded to the facility on Old Barn Road on Nov. 22, 2020, after the fire alarm was triggered. The Lake Placid Volunteer Fire Department was first on scene and found broken windows, spray paint on the walls and used fire extinguishers.

An avid photographer of Tupper Lake happenings, Lanthier followed the troopers, parked and took photos of police searching the Junction area for a suspect in the shooting of the Fortune’s Hardware building. He was a bit concerned watching the scene, so he said he kept his distance.

eizzo@adirondackdailyenterprise.com LAKE PLACID Lake Placid police are urging residents to keep their car doors locked following a string of break-ins over the weekend. The police department received at least eight reports of unlocked cars being opened and rummaged through in the Hillcrest neighborhood, including on Greenwood Street, Acorn Street and Elm Street. Some residents reported nothing stolen from their vehicles, but their property strewn about inside; others reported some valuables and cash missing, according to Lake Placid Police Department Chief William Moore. “There was a rash of them,” Moore said of the car break-ins. “Probably five in the village and three in the town.”

Schuyler Falls man faces attempted murder charges

By CARA CHAPMAN Press-Republican Dec 17, 2020 PLATTSBURGH — A Schuyler Falls man has been charged with the attempted murder of two State Police troopers in connection with a Dec. 6 incident. Following his release from Albany Medical Center Friday, Kevin M. Doherty Jr., 34, was charged with two counts each of first-degree attempted murder of a police officer and menacing of a police officer, and one count of third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, all felonies, State Police said in a press release. ALLEGEDLY FIRED SHOTGUN State Police have said that troopers responded to Doherty s Rabideau Street home at around 4:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 6, for a welfare check.
