UNION GROVE â John Hetland and Jennifer Diener were more than just officers in the Racine Police Department. Both were also parents of students who still attend Union Grove High School.
To honor the two fallen police officers â Hetland killed while trying to stop a robbery at a bar, Diener in an off-duty car crash â fellow students at Union Grove are donating $15,000 to the Racine Police Department.
Members of the high school s National Honor Society collected community donations in recognition of the fact that Hetland and Diener not only were public servants, they also were part of the Union Grove High School community.

Members of the high schoolâs National Honor Society collected community donations in recognition of the fact that Hetland and Diener were public servants and part of the UGHS community.
Natalie Vitek, NHS president, said leaders of the student organization wanted to make a donation to the police department as a show of support for the students who had suffered family tragedies.

Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra throws open its virtual doors to the entire community, inviting the public to stream at no cost its digital 2021 gala, Meet the Moment, which celebrates the Orchestra s virtuosic musicians, on Sunday, April 18, 2021, at 6 pm (PT).
Filmed at iconic locations across Los Angeles, the gala includes dazzling performances and poignant reflections by Music Director Jaime Martín and the Orchestra s artists and honors LACO s long-time supporters and friends from Capital Group. Donations are accepted and proceeds from the virtual party supports LACO s musicians. They also help ensure the future of LACO s education programs, including Meet the Music.
Gil Shaham makes a special guest appearance with Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra performing Boulogne’s virtuosic Violin Concerto No. 9 in G major, on the Orchestra’s groundbreaking CLOSE QUARTERS interdisciplinary digital series that melds musical and visual arts.
