An English-language remake of the award-winning
Another Round is coming sooner than expected. Deadline reports that Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Davisson’s Appian Way, Endeavor Content, and Brad Weston’s Makeready have all acquired the rights to the film, with DiCaprio set to star.

Another Round is fresh off an Oscar win, taking home the Academy Award for Best International Film. The rights to the film were reportedly sought after for quite some time, with everyone from Studiocanal to Elizabeth Banks throwing their names into the fight.
Deadline notes that original director Thomas Vinterberg narrowed the choice when Leonardo DiCaprio approached as this was a “chance to see DiCaprio in a new role, the vulnerable middle-aged man in existential crisis played by Mads Mikkelsen.”

Leonardo DiCaprio s production company has snapped up the English language rights to Another Round, the Best International Film prize winner at Sunday night s Oscars.
Directed by Thomas Vinterberg and starring Mads Mikkelsen, the Danish comedy-drama explores a theory between four friends that their lives will improve by maintaining a constant low level of intoxication.
According to Deadline, DiCaprio and Jennifer Davisson’s Appian Way outbid several other studios, including Jake Gyllenhaal s Nine Stories and Elizabeth Banks with Universal Pictures, for the rights to the remake, which is being eyed-up as a star vehicle for DiCaprio in the role played by Mikkelsen.

Leonardo DiCaprio’s Appian Way has acquired the remake rights to an English-language take on “Another Round,” Thomas Vinterberg’s film that on Sunday won the Oscar for Best International Feature.
The remake of the film is being fully financed by Endeavor Content and Makeready, and it’s being developed with DiCaprio set for the lead role.
DiCaprio and Jennifer Davisson won the rights to the remake in an auction. No writer, director or cast is attached yet.
