Anti-LGBTQ protesters demonstrated outside the home of a school board member in Satellite Beach, Florida, following debates over the board s efforts to accommodate transgender youth.
On Thursday evening, protesters stood outside the home of Brevard Public School Board member Jennifer Jenkins, who had supported inclusive measures for LGBTQ students. Photos posted by Brevard Democrats Chair Stacey Patel showed activists holding signs with slogans such as LGBTQ agenda is ungodly and Two genders & one crazy-evil school board.
One sign read: The school member that lives here wants transgender males + females in the same bathrooms with your daughters in school. Some brought anti-mask signs.

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. On Thursday the Santa Fe City Council will vote on a controversial development project at one of the city s busiest intersections.
During a virtual meeting Tuesday evening, the governing body heard from the community about a planned development project at St. Francis Drive and Zia Road. Many who live in the area oppose it. We are throwing out ordinances to make this happen. This is shameful. Are we the city different or are we the city of apartments, said one person.
Developers of the Zia Station project are asking the city to waive a zoning rule that limits the height of buildings in the area to two stories. That s because the proposal includes three-story buildings as part of a mixed-use development that includes nearly 400 apartments, along with office, retail, and restaurant space.

If Senate Bill 1014 and House Bill 835 pass, a union would also not be allowed to represent employees if fewer than half of the employees join. Supporters say the bills safeguard teachers’ paychecks and improves transparency.
Brevard Federation of Teachers President Anthony Colucci said the bills don’t address any actual concerns that teachers have.
Senate Bill 1014, sponsored by Senator Dennis Baxley (R-Ocala), and House Bill 835, sponsored by Rep. Cord Byrd (R-Neptune Beach), are making their way through subcommittees before reaching the House and Senate for full votes. Similar bills were passed by the House in 2017 and 2018, but the Senate didn t approve the measures. If passed, the new rules would take effect July 1.
