(CNN) When police were finally able to enter the courtyard of the business complex in Orange, California where four people were fatally shot Wednesday they found a woman holding a wounded 9-year-old boy. It appears that a little boy died in his mother s arms as she was trying to save him during this horrific massacre, Orange County District Attorney Todd Spitzer said at a news conference Thursday, though he later added the exact nature of their relationship was still under investigation.

A man accused of killing four people, including a child, this week in Southern California was charged Friday with murder and attempted murder.
The Associated Press reported that Aminadab Gaxiola Gonzalez has been charged with killing the four people, including a 9-year-old boy, after entering an Orange, Calif., business where his wife worked.
The boy s mother was also critically injured during the shooting.

Kimberly Edds, a spokeswoman for the district attorney’s office, told the AP that Gonzalez s hearing was pushed back until Monday as he was still hospitalized.
Gonzalez was admitted to the hospital with gunshot wounds after the shooting.
