The end was finally near, or at least that’s how it looked. As Marjorie Mann waited to receive her first coronavirus vaccine shot in January, she thought of what she had missed most during the past nine months, and what she might soon experience again.
Inside the Waters Edge Lodge assisted living center in Alameda, portable tables had replaced exercise equipment in a small room near the front entrance. A half-dozen CVS workers in full protective gear welcomed residents and administered the shots.
