Photos: Wildfires Force Evacuations In Siskiyou, Shasta Counties
Thursday, July 1, 2021 | Sacramento, CA
There are currently three major fires burning in California’s North State: the Lava Fire outside Weed, the Tennant Fire in the Klamath National Forest and the Salt Fire just north of Redding.
These are some of the first major wildfires in Northern California after last year s record-setting fire season, and have triggered evacuations in nearby communities. The fires come as California and other parts of the West are experiencing hot, dry summer weather, and as much of the state is in drought conditions.
Heading into the Fourth of July weekend, Cal Fire is urging Californians to be careful using fireworks, which can cause wildfires if not used carefully and responsibly. You can find information on safe fireworks use this Fourth of July and fire season here.
