American punk musician Jeff Rosenstock wrapped up 2020 by sharing two new songs, titled âCaringâ and âIllegal Fireworks And Hiding Bottles In The Sandâ.
He released the acoustic duet âCaringâ on December 30 with Laura Stevenson, whom he played with in the punk collective Bomb the Music Industry! prior to his solo endeavours.
Rosenstock then followed up with the sprawling, fuzzy warmth of âIllegal Fireworks And Hiding Bottles In The Sandâ on New Yearâs Eve.

Disclaimer:
I am only one man with limited time and, in 2020, I undertook a law conversion (hence the drop of in features in the winter), so if your favourite record is missing chances are I just haven’t heard it yet, so please share your favourite LPs below the line.
Equally, because I’ve been extremely busy, this list leans heavily on albums that I have reviewed (big names, big hype releases) as there are still a host of records I’m desperate to hear, but will not include without having listened to them in full (Thou, Pallbearer, Sasha Sloan, The Koreatown Oddity, Napalm Death, Thundercat, Idles, Against All Logic, Declan McKenna, etc…).

I’ll spare the spiel because we all know this year sucks. We don’t need to be told how much this year sucks. But throughout the shittiness of the god forsaken year, there were
some things to enjoy. Like Chase Elliott winning his first championship. Oh, and speaking of, LSU did win a championship in football this year. That happened!
Despite the pandemic and the death and fear it brought, massive unemployment (hello), and societal unrest, there were some things to enjoy this year, and today we’ll share the musical highlights of this deeply cursed year.
Album Of The Year
Dec 23, 2020 By Mark Moody Web Exclusive
If in a fever dream you ever imagined a collaboration between new comer Squirrel Flower, Xiu Xiu, The Get Up Kids, and Saturday Looks Good To Me’s Fred Thomas, Polyvinyl Records is here to serve that up for you. And that’s just one song (“Do U Remember”) out of the 11 on the
Exquisite Corpse
compilation (digitally released in September and now being released in physical form). You’re probably aware of the “exquisite corpse” game even if you don’t recognize the name. Artist Salvador Dali and his wacky surrealist friends, when bored, would fold a piece of paper and each participant would draw a part of a body or figure say head, torso, or legs without seeing the other sections. They would end up with fantastical creatures such as a being with a rabbit’s head, a flying saucer midsection, and legs from grandma’s end table. You get the idea.
