After teaching a class of over 200 students online in the fall, Jeff Rubin knew he wanted to find a way to safely get back in front of a large in-person class.
Before the fall semester started, Rubin thought of using the Carrier Dome the only space on campus that could accommodate social distancing for a large class but knew it wouldn’t be available due to renovations. Now that construction is complete, Rubin, an associate professor of practice in Syracuse University’s School of Information Studies, will be using the Dome to teach his information technologies lecture.
Jeff Rubin: unpacking the impact of globalisation on working people Rubin makes the connection between the anxiety – if not anger – about the hollowing out of the US industrial heartlands, the coastal regions that fuelled England’s Brexit vote and the so-called populist revolts against the political class in France

Republican Party morphed under Donald Trump01/01/2021|9min
Canadian economist and author Jeff Rubin says the Republican Party, under Donald Trump, morphed into the party of the American working class.
“We’re already starting to see - for the first time in a couple of decades in the US – manufacturing employment is growing and so are wages,” Mr Rubin told Sky News.
“I think what’s really interesting on the political front is how under Donald Trump, the Republican Party has morphed into the party of the American working class.
“I think both Democrats and traditional Republicans have causes for concern with that.”

BAD AXE Bad Axe’s Meijer store is working to give back to families this holiday season with a twist on how Meijer normally does holiday promotions.
The Meijer store has teamed up with the Bad Axe Police Department to help distribute $1,000 worth of gift cards throughout the community, which police officers will give out when they randomly pull drivers over.
