Itasca hoping to bring back July 4 fireworks with COVID-19 precautions

Posted2/18/2021 5:10 AM Itasca officials seek to bring back the popular Fourth of July fireworks show, but COVID-19 still poses some challenges. Officials met Tuesday night to discuss putting on the show with partner Hamilton Lakes Business Park after the pandemic forced the village to cancel it last year. The fireworks display is one of the largest in the suburbs, bringing an average of 25,000 viewers.   Although village board members want to host the event in some capacity, the question of how the event will take place was not immediately clear and likely won t be until late March. Mayor Jeff Pruyn was clear on what will not be included at the event. No live music will be played and there are no food vendors planned for the event this year.

Itasca providing relief to businesses in the village

Itasca providing relief to businesses in the village   Updated 12/18/2020 8:00 AM Itasca will be reducing all business license fees by 50% for 2021 because of the COVID-19 pandemic. The decision is one of many made by the village to provide financial relief to businesses in the town.   With the length that this pandemic has gone on, it continues to hamper businesses from operating normally, Mayor Jeff Pruyn said. We re continuing to help our business community survive these difficult times. Any business in the village is eligible for the fee reduction. But a business must request it. The reduced fee must be paid in full. In addition, a business must have paid in full its license fee for 2020, which was due last January.
