Rob Zombie is rebooting The Munsters.
Sources claim Zombie will likely make the film as a Peacock exclusive to premiere on streaming and in theaters at the same time.
Reports indicate production will begin in early May with Jeff Daniel Phillips set as Herman Munster and Zombie s wife, Sheri Moon Zombie, to play Lily Munster.
Cassandra Peterson, also known as Elvira, Mistress of the Dark, will have a part as well.
According to Bloody Disgusting, the gossip on Monday (April 19) was that the solo artist and former White Zombie bandleader also known to horror movie devotees for his Firefly Trilogy (
Bloody Disgusting reports that the budget is reportedly in the $30M-$40M range.
For the record, Zombie’s previous films were (at best) half that budget. His two
Halloween movies topped out at $15M a piece. Then there was
House of 1000 Corpses and
The Devil’s Rejects, both budgeted at $7M. Then
The Lords of Salem and
31 at $1.5M And finally,
Three From Hell cost – checks notes – go figure, $3M.
So, again, this will be Zombie’s biggest movie. By at least double. About time. But I think this might mean – as we might have suspected – this could also be Zombie’s first PG-13 (or gasp PG) movie. That’s would be fucking weird. I guess we’ll see soon…

Zombie will once again stack the deck with his go-to stable of actors. Herman Munster will be played by Jeff Daniel Phillips and Rob Zombie s wife, Sheri Moon Zombie will be cast as Lily Munster. Elvira, Mistress Of The Dark, real life name Cassandra Peterson will also be in the reboot! Rounding out the cast is Richard Brake, Dan Roebuck and Jorge Garcia.
