CENTRAL CITY â It all started when Brent Kennedy took a trip down the school gymnasium rabbit hole following what should have been a run-of-the-mill Central City Public Schools board meeting.
âWe had just bantered around about building a new gym,â Kennedy, a Central City Public Schools Board of Education member, recalled. âI stayed up almost all night because I was so excited.â

Also at Tuesday’s meeting, the commission approved a new starting wage for jail transport staff in an effort to entice more people to apply – $18.33 starting out to $19.33 for applicants with experience.
Emergency Manager Jeff Jensen told the board he could find no penalty listings for violating burn ban resolutions. Jensen asked the commission to consider two ordinances for the county:
1) Mandatory reporting of all open burning (not to include burn barrels) to the Mobridge Police Department; and
2) Instead of issuing burn ban resolutions, for the the county to go with the recommendations of the National Weather Service.
First readings of both ordinances will be listed on the next agenda.
