New York Jets assistant coach Greg Knapp died Thursday after being struck by a car on Saturday while riding a bicycle near his Northern California residence.
The Jets confirmed the news, which had previously been reported, and shared a statement in which head coach Robert Saleh said Knapp had such an inner peace about him that people always seemed to gravitate toward.

NEW YORK) New York Jets assistant coach and passing game coordinator Greg Knapp has died after being struck by a car while riding his bicycle in California on Tuesday, the team announced Tuesday.
“Today at 11:32 am PST, Greg Knapp (aka Knapper) was called back home to Heaven, where he will be reunited with his Dad,” the team said in a statement.
Knapp was struck by a car on Tuesday and never regained consciousness, according to the team.
“Those of us who were so blessed to have known him, know that he would have wanted even this moment to be a teachable one. So this is it…”Live every day as if it’s your last, and love those around you like it won’t last!” the statement said. “Greg’s infectious personality is most people’s first and lasting memory of him. The phrase “He never met a stranger” encapsulates Knapper’s zest for life. He had a unique gift to make everyone feel special, and to Knapper, they all were.”

SAN RAMON, CA New York Jets passing game specialist Greg Knapp died Thursday of injuries he received when he was hit by a car while riding his bicycle Saturday in San Ramon.
Knapp, 58, was hospitalized at John Muir Hospital in Walnut Creek in critical condition after the crash, according to a statement from San Ramon Police Lt. Tami Williams.
Knapp was riding northbound on Dougherty Road about a quarter-mile north of North Monarch Road when a 22-year-old Danville man driving northbound struck him with his car. Knapp immediately became unconscious, his family wrote in a statement posted Thursday by the Jets.

NEW YORK (AP) New York Jets assistant coach Greg Knapp died Thursday of injuries suffered in an accident when he was struck by a car while riding a bicycle Saturday near his home in California. He was 58.
Knapp’s family released a statement through the team that the longtime NFL assistant coach died at 2:32 p.m. EDT.
“Greg Knapp (aka Knapper) was called back home to Heaven, where he will be reunited with his Dad,” the statement said.
The family said in the statement that Knapp never regained consciousness after being hit by the car in the city of San Ramon in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Knapp served as Peyton Manning s QBs coach from 2013-15 after Adam Gase was promoted to offensive coordinator, and presided over the MVP s record-setting 2013 performance. Manning threw for 5,477 yards and 55 touchdowns in Knapp s first year coaching him, which are still NFL records.
