Madras-area man struck, killed while walking on Highway 97
MADRAS, Ore. (KTVZ) – A Madras-area man was struck by a car and killed late Tuesday night as he walked on Highway 97, police said Wednesday.
Police and others responded around 11: 20 p.m. to the reported crash on South Highway 97 near L Street, in an area where the speed limit increases from 25 to 35 mph, Detective Sergeant Steve Webb said.
First responders found a 59-year-old area resident had been struck by a four-door car. He died at the scene, Webb said.
The victim was walking on the west side of the southbound lane, the sergeant said. He added that the man was dressed in dark clothing and was in an area where there are no sidewalks or crosswalks.

A 50-year-old man accused of threatening to put a bomb in Linn Park, and also threatening Birmingham Mayor Randall Woodfin, has been federally indicted.
The Northern District of Alabama U.S. Attorney’s Office on Wednesday announced the indictment against Brian Stephen Vest. He is charged in a one-count indictment issued Tuesday charging the Warrior man with engaging in conduct with the intent to convey false and misleading information regarding the use of a weapon of mass destruction, announced U.S. Attorney Prim F. Escalona and FBI Special Agent in Charge Johnnie Sharp, Jr.

Prineville man shot and Redmond man arrested in connection with Lone Pine incident
A Redmond man was arrested Monday in connection with the death of a Prineville man in Lone Pine.
On the morning of Sunday, April 18, a Jefferson County Sheriff s Deputy responded to a report of a deceased person on Lone Pine Road in Jefferson County, Jefferson County District Attorney Steve Leriche reported.
At this location, the deputy observed a deceased person identified as Edgar Morales, age 30, who was located next to his white Ford truck. Morales, from Prineville, appears to have died from a gunshot wound.
