Of the NFL’s top 20 all-time leading receivers, 15 switched teams at some point in their careers. Ten years into his career, Julio Jones who’s currently 20th all time on the career receiving yards list (12,896) seemed destined to become the fifth player on that list to stick with one franchise. But on Monday, amid rumblings that the Falcons want to trade Jones, the seven-time Pro Bowler essentially ensured that he’d finish his career in a different jersey.
The NFC South is a highly competitive division in the NFL.
The most active and highly contentious rivalry has always been between the Saints and the Falcons.
On Monday, New Orleans fans did not shed a tear at the news of Julio Jones desire to be traded from Atlanta.

If he departs the NFC South, he would be one less headache for the Saints secondary to handle twice a year.

ATLANTA (AP) â The Atlanta Falcons began their offseason training program Tuesday without longtime star receiver Julio Jones, who apparently has no intention of returning to a rebuilding team that is still struggling to get under the salary cap.
Rookie coach Arthur Smith was tight-lipped about the Falcons’ options, but insisted that he doesnât begrudge Jones for speaking his mind.
âWe encourage our players to speak for themselves,â Smith said during an interview session dominated by questions about Jones’ future. âThat doesn’t change anything for us. We understand our plan going forward. We’ve had multiple private conversations with our players. Those conversations will remain private on my end.â

It’s sounding more and more like Julio Jones has played his last game for the Atlanta Falcons, raising questions about where the wide receiver will play in the upcoming season.
The Dallas Cowboys are one team that is not a realistic destination for the veteran this offseason.
During Monday’s broadcast of Fox Sports 1’s “Undisputed” Shannon Sharpe called Jones to ask about his future. Jones told Sharpe, “I’m out of there” when asked about wanting to stay in Atlanta, and he dismissed the notion that he might end up in Dallas.
